Although, you know, adults call it "discussing."
The conversation went something like this:
ME: "So the lady says that Helen of Troy was kept from mirrors until she was of marrying age so that she wouldn't know how beautiful she was. If that isn't an exercise in control."
HUSBAND: How does she know that? HOW COULD SHE POSSIBLY KNOW THAT!
Me: It was probably something she came across doing reasearch for the book. You know, SCHOLARLY RESEARCH.
HUSBAND: There is NO WAY she could find out something like that. I mean it's not like it was written down.
Me: Well old stories. Stories that have been passed down. A lot of history can be gleaned from what was once an oral tradition.
HUSBAND: We're talking THOUSANDS of years. Stories do not get passed down for thosuands of years.
Me: Yes they do. Lots of Indian tribes have stories about things that happened THOUSANDS of years ago.
Husband: I don't trust it. You cannot base any sort of claim off of historical fiction. I mean it's FICTION.
Me: Isn't that just most of history anyway? I mean we're getting into a philisophical argument where one could argue that MOST if not ALL of history is a historical fiction.
Husband: Now you're just talking nonsense. NONSENSE.
Zee Plan...
I "plan" to post at least once a week now... maybe twice if you're lucky. I might post random stuff that doesn't matter sometimes, but we'll see.
POSTING DAYS ARE MONDAYS because most people spend their Monday's reading stuff on the internet any way.
*All statements subject to change without notice. No returns or exchanges. Not to be used as a flotation device. Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars.
