Baby hasn't been in a day care type situation before, so we're interested to see how it will turn out. According to the Internet (where all information is good, accurate information) one of the most important things to look for in a day care is (safety? sense of safeness? safe-haven? safe practices?) LOCATION.
It's all about location, location, location. Much like living two blocks away from the beach, the location of your day care is going to be the most important decision you make. Should it be close to your work? Close to your home? Close to your favorite Coffee Bean so that you can easily stop by before and after work?
We got lucky in that (and I'm not kidding here) it is ALL THREE. Yep, even close to the Coffee Bean.
My husband finds the whole thing a bit disconcerting, considering he'd rather have Baby at home and under the close watch of her parents at all times. Also, our day care leader happens to be a single father, who has been in the day care field for the last five years because he wanted to find the safest place for his children and that seemed to be with him (ahem, Husband, sounds like somebody else I know).
I liked him when I first met him because he seemed genuine and flexible, two things I value in human interaction with people. Genuine meaning he talked to us in a friendly way, rather than a super professional way and flexible meaning he's willing to work with this young couple that was 10 minutes late for their visit and 20 minutes late to sign papers. I dig flexibility because life seems to require it... especially with babies involved.
I think he has an interesting story, lurking somewhere behind his super clean house and child friendly backyard, am hoping to figure out more about it (of course never asking him directly considering I'd rather just speculate and make up my own story).
So we'll see. As we were signing papers Baby took it upon herself to crawl on out to visit with the other kids, played with some toys, handed some things to this other little girl and tried to follow them around the backyard. She promptly slipped and got stuck on the cute little dress I put her in, whereby she turned and glared at me with that look only a daughter can giver her mother. "See Mom! Look what you did putting me in this crazy dress when I'm trying to play!"
Lesson learned.
Zee Plan...
I "plan" to post at least once a week now... maybe twice if you're lucky. I might post random stuff that doesn't matter sometimes, but we'll see.
POSTING DAYS ARE MONDAYS because most people spend their Monday's reading stuff on the internet any way.
*All statements subject to change without notice. No returns or exchanges. Not to be used as a flotation device. Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars.
